Our Programs
Our farm-based programs support Veterans through hands-on healing, meaningful connection, and a wide range of therapeutic experiences.
We accomplish our mission through three primary programs: Agritherapy, Workshops, and Events.

Agritherapy
Agritherapy consists of three volunteer groups that manage our produce and flower gardens, beehives, and medicinal plants:
Garden Group
-
To date, we've grown over 70,000lbs of produce and hundreds of bouquets that are donated to the Veterans and caregivers at the Charles George VA Medical Center, Safelight Women's Shelter, IAM Food Pantry, the Rescue Mission of Hendersonville, the Storehouse, and the Veterans Restoration Quarters (male, Veteran homeless shelter in Asheville) and any other organizations in need.
Because the healing comes from the process of working together in the soil, everything we grow is a byproduct of that to be shared with our Veteran community.
Beekeeping Squad
-
Veteran Beekeeping is more than just harvesting honey—it’s a powerful form of healing and connection.
Working with bees teaches patience, focus, and calm, offering Veterans a peaceful, purposeful activity that supports both mental health and the environment. From building hives to tending colonies, Veterans gain hands-on skills while contributing to local ecosystems. Plus, the honey's pretty sweet too!
Medicinal Herb Squad
-
The Medicinal Herb Squad cultivates and crafts over 70 healing plants into teas, tinctures, salves, and balms—specifically for our Veteran community. Long before big pharma, plant medicine was the original remedy for thousands of years.
For Veterans, the top challenges are sleep, anxiety, and inflammation—and the goal of our plant medicine program is to offer natural, plant-based relief instead of just another pill.
Workshops
Every workshop we offer is designed to heal — whether it's actual therapy like equine, canine, art, music, or neurofeedback, or therapeutic experiences like blacksmithing, canning, herbal medicine, mushroom growing, jam making & many, many more. We also offer life-saving suicide prevention classes open to everyone in Western NC.
Last year? 47 workshops. 500+ participants. 92% approval rating.

Events
From powerful moments of remembrance to fun-filled outings, our events connect Veterans with support, community, and joy. Highlights include:
Our Annual Veterans Resource Fair with 40+ service orgs, live music & food trucks
Hosting the Traveling Vietnam Memorial Wall & 9/11 Memorial (3,856 attendees over 4 days)
Adventures like fly fishing, hiking, kayaking, baseball & hockey games
Free vet clinics for Veterans’ dogs
We’re all about bringing Veterans into the community—and making them feel seen, supported, and celebrated.
